The course starts at Victoria Park Lake in the heart of Shepparton. Runners will loop around the east side of the lake, running close to the water. Runners will then follow the river south toward the botanic gardens. Passing over the newly erected river crossing, runners will run west around the dam, crossing the dam wall, and beginning the ascent to the top of the botanic gardens hill. After reaching the top, the runners will descend the south side of the hill, and begin the return towards the lake. Completing the run, the runners will take the west side of the lake, heading north, finishing at the north side of the lake. Then its time for a rest, just to do it all again...

Built on the old landfill site, the botanical gardens are home to native flora and fauna, and play host to many community activities. At the very top of the hill, there is a viewing area that allows you to see over the entire Goulburn Valley. A real treat for those that live on such flat terrain.
Set in the centre of the Shepparton township and on the banks of the Goulburn river, Victoria Park Lake is used as the centre of community and large sporting events alike. The 2km paved loop around the lake plays host to the Shepparton Park run each Saturday morning, and is used reguarly by runners everywhere. With great picnic areas, grassed areas, and playgrounds for the kids, the lake really is a great family friendly place to visit.
And if art is an interest to you, the new Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) is now open on the east side of the lake.
